He says it's made no sense.
A Zurich representative on the Bluewater - South Huron accommodation review committee believes Zurich should be left out of the review entirely.
The process is driven by declining enrollment but Doug Schade says their school is at capacity.
He believes Zurich students shouldn't be taken out of Zurich public to fill vacancies at other schools.
Schade says Zurich parents also very strongly opposed to sending grade seven and eight students to a high school.

Early indications suggest West Perth residents will be looking at a very minimal tax increase this year.

Deputy-Mayor and 2010 Budget Chair Gerry Kehl says the initial run through suggests a 3.5 per cent increase in the budget. He says it would have little impact spread out over the tax base even if no further cuts are made.

Kehl says the municipality will now wait to see what the County's proposed levy increase is before finalizing everything with an ideal budget increase of 2 to 2.5 per cent in mind.

The next and possibly final West Perth 2010 Budget Meeting is scheduled for March 1st.

Federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz says Business Risk Management Programs were a major focus of Friday's meeting of provincial, federal and territorial agriculture ministers.
He says the ministers spent most of the morning talking about those kinds of programs.
However, despite the discussion there was no quick action taken at the meeting.
Instead the ministers are going back to consult their farmers further on BRM's and will bring the results of those consultations to the next Ministers' meeting in July.
Ontario's new Agriculture Minister Carol Mitchell says that will give the grassroots - or what she calls 'concession farmers' - the chance to have some input into any business risk management program proposals.

Norwell District Secondary School in Palmerston is getting ready to celebrate its 70th anniversary in May.

The only problem is contacting many of the 14,000 graduates from the past 70 years.

Rose Van Sickle who is chair of the Norwell School Council says mailing lists from the last reunion 10 years ago are so out of date they are almost usless.

Van Sickle is hoping to get the word out about the reunion through the media.

Former students and staff can get more information on the Norwell website: www.ugdsb.on.ca/norwell

A substantial Provincial investment will help the County of Perth, Stratford and St. Marys move forward with a regional economic development strategy. Through the "Communities in Transition" initiative, the region in partnership with the Perth Community Futures Development Corporation and the Technical Training Group will receive 210 thousand dollars for the development of a strategic plan. An 80 thousand dollar grant from Employment Ontario's Labour Market Partnerships initiative will help the region conduct a labour market analysis to assist in job creation and skills development efforts. Focus group sessions have been planned and the first in a series of Town Hall meetings will be held at Parkview Gardens in Listowel from 7 until 10 p.m on Monday night. Others will be held in Milverton, Mitchell Stratford and St. Marys next week. The goal is to have a report on the Perth County Labour Market Analysis and Regional Economic Development Strategic Plan prepared for the consideration of each partner municipality by the end of March.
