New version of New version of "Jersey Shore" = Help me!!
Saturday, August 28, 2010 11:11 am
Well, I have to say, I have watched an episode or 2 of "Jersey Shore", and it's a miracle these people are not COMPLETELY embarrassed about how they appear on TV. However, they've got lots of viewers, and they're making a good chunk of change, so I guess it's all good to them!  If you thought ONE "Jersey Shore" was just not enough, there are others who agree! Plans are in the works for a new reality TV show like "Jersey Shore", but based on people in the southern states. It's tentatively called "Party Down South", and it'll be aired on Comedy Central in the US, if it gets made.  Oh boy...I don't think I'm ready...

In the "weird stuff" file for today:  A 68-year-old Florida man was arrested yesterday after having a loud argument with his bicycle outside a gas station.  The arresting officer saw him "yelling at his bicycle" in the parking lot of a Mobil gas station, according to an arrest affidavit.
"Customers were coming to the Mobil and were very disturbed as to the yelling and obscene argument the defendant was having with his bicycle," the affidavit alleges.
The man was arrested and charged with disorderly intoxication, a misdemeanour.
Actually, it's not THAT strange I guess...I had a heated discussion with my computer here, at work, a few hours ago...
Prince Harry on reality TV? Prince Harry on reality TV?
Wednesday, August 25, 2010 11:20 am
The latest reality TV show in the UK has one big supporter in, of all people, Prince Harry. The show is called "Goldie's Band: By Royal Appointment", and it'll be hosted by well-known UK DJ Clifford Price, also known as Goldie. He'll be searching for 17 to 24 year olds with musical talent, and 12 contestants will be mentored by industry experts, including a songwriter and a jazz artist. And THIS is where Prince Harry comes in: the show will culminate in a huge concert at Buckingham Palace, in front of Prince Harry. The prince is apparently a big fan of reality TV - good, it's not just me! - and he wanted to be part of this one because there's no voting anyone out, and there's no ridicule for contestants. It'll be a very positive experience for them. Nice to hear.
Mayor Levi Johnston? Mayor Levi Johnston?
Tuesday, August 24, 2010 10:09 am
The father of Sarah Palin's grandson, the guy who was engaged to Bristol Palin twice, and the guy who tried to jumpstart a "career" in Hollywood by posing in Playgirl has said lots of nasty things about Sarah Palin, but NOW he's trying to get her former job. He filed a letter of intent with the Alaska Public Offices Commission to run for public office. The letter doesn't state that he's running for mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, but he's got a new reality TV series in the mix - who doesn't?! - called "Loving Levi: The Road to the Mayor's Office", so that's obviously his intent.  I'd like to see this guy's resume...
The Situation news The Situation news
Tuesday, August 24, 2010 9:59 am
I love reality TV, and one of my favourite shows is "Dancing with the Stars".  The newest season is set to start next month, and though there's been no formal announcement about those who'll be dancing as "stars", there are some rumours flying around. One of them is that Audrina Patridge, who was on "The Hills", has signed on for the show, now that "The Hills" is over. Another rumour is that The Situation, from "Jersey Shore", will be on the show as well, but that's not all he's got going on.  He's doing a second season of the reality TV show, for which he pulls in almost $60,000 an episode, he is creating an abs-focused fitness video, called "The Situation Workout", he has a chewable supplement line at a fitness store, he's releasing an autobiography called Here's the Situation, he's going to be endorsing a new vodka, he has a rap song on iTunes, he has endorsements with Vitaminwater and Reebok, and he has a deal for a clothing line. The Hollywood Reporter predicts he'll earn up to $5 million by the end of the year.  He's certainly making the most of his 15 minutes of fame, and who can blame him?
Not the best idea... Not the best idea...

File this one under "bad decisions" or "not-so-bright criminals":  One man in Edmonton needed to be gone quickly, but didn't have a ride. You see, he was late for an appointment with a probation officer, and the officer had threatened to throw him in jail if he was in breach of his probation. So, what do you think he did? He stole a bicycle and rode it to the police station! Not too smart. One of the conditions of his probation was that he be on his best behaviour, and theft IS NOT THAT!! He was arrested and charged with theft. He was sentenced to 4 months in jail.
LBD LBD

According to the Oxford Dictionary of English, the item of clothing made famous by Audrey Hepburn is so important that it was just added to the Dictionary. "LBD", an abbreviation for Little Black Dress, is one of more than 2,000 new entries added to the 3rd edition of the Oxford Dictionary of English, published on Friday. A spokesperson for the publisher said that they use a word bank that is continually updated, making it fully based on how we really speak.
Salinger sale Salinger sale
Monday, August 23, 2010 11:55 am
If you love JD Salinger and his writing, and you want to own something that used to be his, you might get your heart broken. You see, there IS something up for grabs on eBay, but it's likely WAY out of your budget. The item has an asking price of $1 million!! What IS it up for sale? Ready for this? It's a ..... toilet!!  A North Carolina collectibles dealer bought the toilet that was in Salinger's former home, from a couple who own the home now.

Okay,  I get the attraction of buying a famous person's belongings - I do - but I'm thinking a rough draft of Catcher in the Rye, or an autograph, or an old coat he used to wear, but the place he put his bum? I don't think so...
Madonna is being sued Madonna is being sued
Monday, August 23, 2010 10:54 am
Bad news for Madonna.  She's being sued by a fashion company for launching a teenage clothing label under the name of her famous song Material Girl. Madonna recently started the line with daughter Lourdes, which has clothes, shoes, bags, and accessories, but company L.A Triumph Inc claims it has been using the trademark since 1997.  Executives of the company are asking US federal judges to ban Madonna from using the name and award them any profits made since it was launched at Macy's store in New York this month.

I think it's too bad because Madonna is called the "material girl" by almost everyone, making the name her own with her song in the
80s. Maybe the other fashion company should have to pay HER!!
Adam Lambert gets up close and personal with fans Adam Lambert gets up close and personal with fans
Monday, August 23, 2010 10:52 am
If you go to one of Adam Lambert's concerts, take some breath mints and be prepared. He could come and plant a big smackeroo on YOU! Lambert leaned into the crowd during a concert performance in New York last week, and kissed a random audience member, then returned to singing. However, he went back to the crowd and kissed ANOTHER random fan. He then tweeted, "TongueDiving is the new StageDiving. Get Into It".

I guess he thinks it's pretty safe since they ARE fans, there to see him perform, so they probably wouldn't mind having a close, personal encounter with him!!

I don't know about you, but I just want to hear music at a concert...
